"I don't recall that lie...."
(Washington: Ucs News) International Liars Association members blasted Attorney General Alberto Gonzales for embarrassing them and hinted that his botched testimony about the Bush administration's surveillance of suspected terrorists was "A major failing."

Liars Association members voiced incredulity and disdain at Gonzales's answers to questions about the firing of nine U.S. attorneys and the description of a visit he made as White House counsel to a hospitalized Attorney General John Ashcroft in 2004.

Several Liars Association members cautioned Gonzales to carefully review the transcript of his answers to make sure that his lies were both consistent with previous lies and "At the least remotely believable."

Gonzales defended the hospital visit and admitted that he lied to Ashcroft, who was under sedation and in intensive care. "I didn't press'' Ashcroft, Gonzales said, disputing elements of earlier testimony to the Liars Association disciplinary board.

"Your credibility has a Liars Association member has been breached to the point of being actionable,'' said Liars Association chairman Dick Cheney.
